Malignaggi Looks To Ruin Broner’s Record

Tonight, across the pond at the Barclay’s Centre in Brooklyn, Paulie Malignaggi will be defending his WBA Welterweight title against Adrien Broner.

It is a fight that has me licking my lips in anticipation. Broner is being championed as the next big thing in American boxing and has moved up from lightweight to try and take another world title.

Earlier this week Broner was trash-talking his way towards the fight inferring that it will be a bloody affair, but, as the fight draws nearer, Malignaggi is confident that he’ll have the upper hand and has spoken to the media about the forthcoming contest, remarking about his challenger and his boasts,

'I'm going to make him quit on his stool.'

'We're ready. Come get it. The harder he tries, the more ass whuppin' he's going to get.'

'He better try real hard to get me out of there early and he better succeed because he's going to end up in deep water.'

'His power is overrated. I could have knocked out 20 garbagemen or laundromat [launderette] workers too, but I chose to fight real opponents in my career.'

Prompting the unbeaten Broner to retort,

'He's going to wish there's another corner he can run to.”

I've got power so it really don't matter what weight class I'm in. I'm still going to have the same power as I had.'

As I said earlier, this one has me licking my lips in anticipation. Can the heavy-punching Broner blow the champion away or will the more experienced, especially at this weight, Malignaggi have too much ring-craft to frustrate the challenger and hold on to his belt?

Tune into the action tonight on Frank Warren’s BoxNation, it’ll be a good one.
