Lewis - It Was All Hypothetical!

Was, yesterday, Lennox Lewis stringing us all along or did his remarks about making a ring return for the princely sum of $100 million simply get misinterpreted?

The reason we ask is that yesterday, with every news source on the planet latching on to the possibility of a Lennox Lewis return to the heavyweight arena, Lennox then moved very quickly to back-track and insist that a return to the ring was the furthest thing on his mind.

Trying to explain the comments, Lewis went on to suggest that the comments were merely a hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question and that he’d been misunderstood.

Now that may well have been the case but, to me, the comments made too slick a reading to be anything other than a definite inference that a ring return was on the cards, but we’re not prepared to argue with the big man.

However, if a fight with one of the Klitschko’s was something that maybe Lewis thought, hypothetically, was on the horizon, it appears to be something that Klitschko’s agent, Bernd Boente, didn’t think would be on his fighters menu, remarking,

“That’s absurd, it’s garbage.”

“We don’t give something like that any thought. I saw him in Moscow at Wladimir’s fight with Alexander Povetkin. He’s not fit anymore and has a belly.”

So perhaps Lennox did exactly what I suggested, namely, take a long hard long at himself in the mirror and just say NO!

based on his age and inactivity, I genuinely hope he isnt tempted to return, though if he did, I would have to confess I would watch
