Burns to Face Crawford on 1st March

Confirmation has finally come through with regards to Ricky Burns WBO title defence against the unbeaten American, Terence Crawford.

The fight will take place at Glasgow’s SECC on Saturday 1st March.

It will be Burn’s first fight since his jaw was broken by Raymundo Beltran back in September.

The challenger, Crawford, arrives with an unbeaten record of 22 bouts, 16 of which he has won by knockout.

Many punters reckon this will be Burns toughest defence yet, even more so after the Scot hasn’t looked his normal self in his two previous outings.

But Burns remains confident and has had some things to say ahead of the date with the Scot remarking,

'Everybody is writing me off again with Terence but that doesn't bother me, I like being the underdog and can't wait to get back out there.'

'I have a point to prove.'

'I've had two bad performances, we've made a few changes and some adjustments.”

'We're going to be doing things differently, and fingers crossed that we see a new Ricky Burns on 1 March.”

I’m not sure about a different Ricky Burns, I was more hoping to see the Burns that marched towards, and grabbed, the WBO crown some five fights ago.

As for Crawford, this will be his first fight outside of the USA but he’s coming to grab Burns title and has issued an ominous warning, remarking about the fight,

'I hope Burns is ready to walk to hell and back.'

'I'm going to fight with all my heart.”

'I have the determination and the skill to win the world title and bring it home.'

It promises to be a cracking fight, stick the date in your diary folks.
