'If It's Boxing, It's Vital'

Frampton Storms to World Title

In Belfast last a dream was realised when Carl Frampton comprehensively beat Kiko Martinez to twin the IBF super-bantamweight crown.

Boxing in front of a partisan crowd numbering 16,000, Frampton put on the kind of performance that his promoter, the legendary Barry McGuigan, had been telling all and sundry that he was capable of.

Frampton boxed superbly against the champion and although he had to settle for a points decision, once the final bell had sounded there was never any doubt as to who’s hand would be raised by the referee.

In the end, after controlling the fight from the first bell, the points decisions were as follows:

• 119-108
• 119-108
• 118-111

In a fight that matched up to our expectations, Martinez showed just how durable was and the crowd thought they were in for an early finish when Frampton had Martinez on the floor in round five.

Frampton, now becomes the only professional fighter to beat the tough Spaniard twice and after the fight Frampton emotionally remarked from the ring,

'I've got the world title!'

'I feel a bit emotional - it has been a long time coming, it has been a hard road.”

'I intend to hang on to it for a very long time.'

With the belt now secured talk will, no doubt begin with regards to Frampton going into a unification fight with another super-bantamweight champion, Scott Quigg.

But before all that begins, let’s hope Carl enjoys his moment and savours just how well he fought last night, congratulations from all at Vital Boxing.
