Fury Stops Chisora in Ten Rounds

At the ExCel Arena, in London, last night, Tyson Fury got the better of Dereck Chisora for a second time.

The unbeaten Manchester fighter stopped Chisora, in the 10th round, in a fight that to be brutally honest failed to live up to expectations.

The win installs Fury as the mandatory challenger for Wladimir Klitschko’s titles.

Fury dominated every round after the 1st, switching to a southpaw stance to box behind his jab and keep Chisora at arms’ length. Exciting rounds were few and far between with Fury deciding not to get too involved.

There were brief flurries of excitement when, in the fourth and fifth rounds when Fury showed that he can hurt an opponent catching Chisora with a flurry of punches that left Chisora marked up and looking dispirited.

But too many times Fury was content to hide behind the jab and the action was so slow that in the 8th round the referee, Marcus McDonnell, called the fighters together to ask them to do some fighting.

Chisora was having no success in rounds nine and ten and Fury’s jab continued to mark up his opponents face and with Chisora offering very little in return it came as no surprise that his corner pulled him out at the end of the 10th round.

The victory sees Fury maintain his unbeaten record with it now standing at 23-0 and speaking about getting that tilt at the world title, Fury’s promoter Mick Hennessy remarked,

'Tyson's mandatory now for the heavyweight world title.

'Wladimir Klitschko's being allowed one more fight in March or April, then it'll be purse bids, then the fight's on. It'll be June to September. The big fight is on, and Klitschko has to just take it and not swerve it.'

Will it happen or will Klitschko have called it a day by then?
