Warrington Tunes Up In Style

Over in Berlin the Leeds fighter Josh Warrington fought on the under-card of the Abraham v Smith world title bout.

Lined up to face Dennis Tuberion, in Leeds on 11th April, Warrington was keeping busy taking on the Nicaraguan fighter, Edwin Tellez.

With the atmosphere upped a few levels courtesy of 500 of his followers Warrington produced a fine display to produce a fifth round stoppage.

Warrington controlled the pace of the fight and opened up in some style in the fifth round unleashing a barrage of punches that saw the towel thrown in by the Nicaraguan’s corner.

The win takes Warrington to 20-0 with four wins coming by way of knockout.

Talking about the performance and the wonderful fans that travelled to Berlin to cheer him on, Warrington remarked,

“It was a good workout and just what I needed.

“We had the chance to work on a few things in there which is great and I didn’t really get out of second gear and now I can focus on April 11 in Leeds.

“My fans are amazing, they were in great voice and the ones here tonight are the ones who go mad at all my fights wherever they are – I can’t thank them enough and I hope that they have had a great trip in this fantastic city.”

As for his promoter, Eddie Hearn, he had this to say,

“Josh hadn’t boxed since October so this was a much-needed work out for him.

“It’s his first time boxing overseas and I don’t think it will be his last, so it was good for him to experience the whole occasion of fighting in a different country at such a young age.”

Josh Warrington! Remember the name, the lad is going places!
