Twelve Months from Achieving a Dream?

Since turning professional, Anthony Joshua has yet to put a foot wrong.

His fourteen professional fight have produced fourteen wins with all fourteen coming inside three rounds.

Some pundits reckon that Joshua is still relatively untested and ponder over what will happen when he comes under pressure and is hit on the chin.

However, those who have guided Joshua to where he stands today, on the pinnacle of achieving a dream only a few ever realise, reckon that the Watford heavyweight is only twelve months away from achieving his goal of becoming the heavyweight champion of the world.

Speaking to the BBC about his heavyweight hope, the promoter Eddie Hearn has remarked about the chase for glory,

'He can win those title fights now but it has to be the right time.

'He will get there but I would say wait until summer 2016, which will probably give us another five fights until he is ready to challenge for a world title.

'I've never seen a fighter where the path is so clear.

'All he has to do is keep training and keep winning, and then nothing will stand in his way.'

But if Joshua’s intended path does see him fight for a world title next summer, he’ll be looking to keep fighting between now and then, although Hearn goes on to explain that getting opponents for Joshua is difficult, with the promoter adding,

'You have to pay an absolute fortune' to find opponents willing to fight Joshua.

'He does need to go some rounds but that is not his fault.

'I don't think there will be many that will give him the rounds he needs.'

Next up for Joshua is that much talked about grudge match against Dillian Whyte, the Brixton heavyweight who beat Joshua when both were in the amateur game, can Whyte provide that test that many feel Joshua needs before he can be taken as a serious contender for a world title inside the next twelve months?
