'If It's Boxing, It's Vital'

Andrew Selby makes it Two Out of Two

Just two weeks after making his professional debut, the Welsh flyweight amateur star Andrew Selby had his second professional fight.

Selby, matched against the teenage Hungarian fighter, Joszek Ajtai, made short work of stopping his opponent.

Although the young Hungarian arrived on our shores with a record that read 10-0, Selby was by far the bigger man and the Hungarian was never in the fight.

Selby has his opponent on the canvas in the first round with a body shot and although the Hungarian climbed to his feet, there was to be no respite.

Mounting a sustained attack in round two the referee stopped the contest with two minutes and seven seconds of round two completed.

Talking about taking his record to 2-0 with both wins coming by stoppages, Selby remarked,

'As soon as I landed the jab he knew I was too strong for him and he went on the back foot.”

And on his future, Selby confirmed,

'The more I fight the better I will perform so hopefully I will be out again in December. I want to break records and the plan is to be going for a world title after 10 fights.'

Although a word title is someway off, on the form he’s currently showing, don’t bet on Andrew joining his brother Lee as a world title holder.
