Now Is Murray’s Time!

This Saturday, in Hannover, Martin Murray will be taking on Arthur Abraham in an attempt to win a version of the super-middleweight world title.

For Murray it will be a fourth attempt at becoming a world champion, in three previous attempts, albeit at middleweight, Murray has been beaten by Sergio Gabriel Martinez and the superstar of the ring Gennady Golovkin. In the other attempt many consider the St Helens fighter to have been unlucky in his bout with Felix Sturm whereby the result was given as a draw.

But moving up to the 168 lbs limit has given Murray confidence that it will be fourth time lucky with the fighter, ahead of the bout this Saturday, remarking,

“I’ve had three world title fights at a weight that was always hard to make.

“Now at this new weight, I feel great. I know I have it in me to win.

“Abraham is a great champion.

“I’m expecting a tough fight, I just feel the timing is right for me.”

Murray must, as the fight approaches, be wary of the scoring. If he is to take the title off of Abraham then he mustn’t leave nothing to chance because any rounds that are close will, inevitably, be given to the champion, as Paul Smith would no doubt vouch.

How does the old saying go, knock them out to get a draw away from home!

My feeling is that Murray can nick this one and then set up a huge domestic unification match with James DeGale.
