Selby Set for Mandatory IBF Defence

It would appear that the Welsh IBF Featherweight, Lee Selby, will be making a mandatory defence of his title in his next fight.

The IBF have decreed that Selby will be fighting the American, Eric Hunter.

Hunter was due to take on Jonathan Victor Barros in a final eliminator this coming Saturday, but the Argentine has decided to take a different route towards world title glory.

In accordance with IBF rules, the fight details must be sorted inside thirty days.

Selby has a fight record that reads 22 wins from 23 fights, including winning the IBF world title against the Russian, Evgeny Gradovic, back in May, in London, whilst the challenger has a record that has seen him win 21 of his 24 fights, but Hunter hasn’t lost since 2013.

Talking about the fight, Selby’s trainer, Tony Borg, has commented,

'It's a tougher fight than Barros would have been but Lee will be fit and ready.

'He wants to beat them all to unify the division.

'We haven't known what was happening really, so we are glad to be able to prepare.'

We’ll report further when a date and venue has been decided.
