Brook Wants to Unify the Welterweight Division

But the others don’t want to play ball!

After making a highly successful defence of his IBF world welterweight title at the Sheffield Arena on Saturday night, stopping his mandatory challenger the Canadian Kevin Bizier inside two rounds, Kell Brook is looking ahead.

With the big fights, so far, eluding him, Brook has set his sights on unifying the welterweight division and taking on the likes of Danny Garcia and Jessie Vargas, with Brook remarking,

'I'll fight any fighter out there. I want to unify the division.

'There's no-one who can touch me at 147lb, I'll clean up. I just need those fights and I'll show everyone I can do that.

'I just want those big fights that bring the best out in me. In this sport I want to challenge myself to the best fights and see how many gears I can go up.'

The win over Bizier took Brook’s record to 36-0 with 25 of those wins coming inside the distance but there has been the suggestion floated around that Brook may move up to the light-middleweight division eventually, a topic which has forced Brook to comment,

'Maybe three or four fights.

'It depends what names get presented to me.

'It is hard making the weight but there's still unfinished business at 147lb before we move up and stay up. I want to get some good scalps.'

You get the feeling that Brook is getting a little impatient with the other big-names in the welterweight division something his promoter Eddie Hearn felt fit to comment on, remarking,

'No-one fancies fighting Kell Brook.

'I'd love him to fight Danny Garcia - he'd smash Danny Garcia - but we'd have to do that in America. Fine.'

Which, leads us to believe that perhaps Brook is set for a return to the US, the very place where many believe he fought his toughest opponent to win the belt, Shawn Porter?
