Callum Smith Grabs EBU Super-Middleweight Title

On Saturday night, up at the Liverpool Echo Arena, Callum Smith won the European super-middleweight title in emphatic style.

Maintaining his unbeaten record, a record that now reads 19-0, Callum produced a display of devastating punching power that will have the current world title holders doing their utmost to avoid a clash with him.

Matched against the French based fighter, Hadillah Mohoumadi, a fighter who had never been stopped before, Callum Smith weathered the early blows the champion threw before launching his own onslaught.

Mohoumadi was hit with several hefty blows and when the champions was trapped on the ropes Callum Smith refused to let up and with the head of the champion being rocked back and forth by power punches the referee stepped in and stopped the fight with just one minute and forty-one seconds of the first round completed.

With the fight billed as an eliminator for the version of the world super-middleweight belt held by Badou Jack, Callum Smith can now wait for a chance to become a world champion.

Talking about his performance Callum had this to say,

'I've always claimed I'm not a big puncher but my record suggests different now. I believe that when I get in the changing room and get the gloves on I can hurt anyone in the world.'

Whilst is promoter, Eddie Hearn, enthused,

'The man's going to dominate the super middleweight division for years to come.'

A bold claim but who would argue against it!
