'If It's Boxing, It's Vital'

Haye, Gjergjaj and Nick Blackwell

Tonight David Haye will be returning to the ring for a second time, in his comeback, hoping to replicate the kind of performance that saw his comeback opponent blasted out inside one round.

Haye, tonight, will be facing an opponent who, on paper, has a decent record but also an opponent who isn’t a big-name in the division, Arnold Gjergjaj.

Many boxing pundits reckon it’ll be a short nights’ work for Haye as he moves a step nearer to his third comeback fight against the veteran Shannon Briggs, a fighter who has been goading Haye with some trash-talk.

However, tonight isn’t just about David Haye, the fight will be broadcast live on the television channel DAVE, a free channel and making his bow as a television pundit will be Nick Blackwell.

Now as we all know Blackwell, after the savage fight with Chris Eubank Jnr, has had to retire and when Haye announced tonight’s fight he pledged 10% of all ticket sales to the Nick Blackwell fund.

Talking about Nick Blackwell doing some commentary work, Haye is quoted as remarking,

“We’ve got Nick doing some commentary work so he will be down at the fight.

“I had a good chat with him on Tuesday. He’s in good spirits and sounds as sharp as a tack. I was worried about how he was going to be but he sounds better than ever.”

Which is excellent news as the sport of boxing continues to rally around somebody who always gave his all in the ring.

As for the fight, I’m going for a Haye knockout victory in round two, how about you?
