Tyson Fury to Face Doping Charge?

When you are a controversial character, controversy sometimes appears to be the norm.

Tyson Fury announced himself on the big-stage when he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko on that memorable night in Germany.

The fighter has never been afraid to air his controversial views and doesn’t appear to care who he upsets with the British Boxing Board of Control keen to reprimand their man in the past.

A recent re-match against Klitschko, scheduled for 9th July, was postponed after the champion hurt his ankle out running, although stories did, subsequently, appear in the media suggesting that wasn’t the manner in which the injury was obtained.

But now Tyson Fury finds himself embroiled in the biggest controversy of his career.

The 27-year-old is set to face a UK Anti-Doping (Ukad) charge which alleges testing found the presence of a banned substance.

The banned substance is said to be nandrolene, a performance enhancing substance which was found in a urine sample supplied by Fury back in February 2015.

The presence of the substance saw, back in June, Tyson Fury provisionally suspended, although Ukad has now revealed that ban has been lifted.

Fury though is set to fight the charge and has already threatened to sue the organisation over claims he has used a performance enhancing substance.

The reigning heavyweight champion of the world has also claimed that the results are flawed with his legal team suggesting the results of tests taken from March and May 2015 were contradictory.

Here at Vital Boxing we’ll endeavour to sit back and report on any further information that is forthcoming.
