Crolla Looking for a HUGE Manchester Night

This Saturday, at the Manchester Arena, Anthony Crolla will be looking to reclaim his WBA lightweight belt.

Crolla will be stepping into the ring to face the man who took the title away from him six months ago, the Venezuelan fighter, Jorge Linares.

Linares is a tough opponent, probably the toughest Crolla has ever faced.

During his professional career Linares has been world champion at three different weights and he’s won 41 of his 44 professional fights.

Crolla knows that he’ll have to be at his best ahead of the fight and ahead of the bout, talking to the media, the popular Mancunian fighter has remarked,

'My speed's improved, my variation of shots has improved.

'I just think I'm a bit more clever in the ring.

'I've had to be a little bit selfish and miss out on a few things, like training kids at the old amateur club. But I certainly feel the benefits of being locked away a bit more this camp.'

And on facing Linares again, Crolla recalled the power the champion has in his hands, commenting,

'He's a sharp counter-puncher with power in either hand, so I've got to fight using my head and not just my heart.”

But although Manchester has witnessed some memorable nights when it comes to boxing, Crolla is hoping Saturday night tops the lot, further adding,

'It's very hard to top winning a world title but I believe winning back this world title, when I'm fighting a future hall of famer and for the prizes I'm fighting him for, would go down as one of the most special nights in Manchester boxing.'

Our best wishes go to Anthony Crolla but it’ll be a huge ask to topple such a good champion!
