More Taylor v Burns Talk

Ahead of his Saturday evening fight with Ohara Davies, any hopes of Josh Taylor tempting Ricky Burns into the ring for an all-Scottish fight looked remote.

Burns, looking to bounce back after losing his super-lightweight world title to Julius Indongo, had told Taylor that he wouldn’t entertain the prospect of getting into the with him and that he’d have to get past his team-mate, Davies, first.

Well Taylor did exactly that and now the war-of-words has continued out of the ring to try and get a huge fight set up between Taylor and Burns.

Talking to the media about the boxer who hails from Coatbridge, Taylor remarked to the media, away from the glare of the ring,

'I have massive respect for him. I have no bad words to say about him.

'A couple of months ago, he said he wouldn't entertain me, that I'd have to get past his team-mate. I've done it in style.

'Ricky is still at the top of the game and a very tough fighter. He's got all the experience. It would be a very testing fight for me. If I could get through that, I'd be ready to go for world titles.

'I'd love to fight at Edinburgh Castle. It's a dream of mine. I think it would be iconic.'

Can the fight be made?

Is it too much of a risk for Burns knowing that a loss to Taylor could signal the end of his career?

Is it too early in his career for Taylor to mix it with a man who has won world titles at three different weights?

The only way to answer the questions is for the fighters to get in the ring!
